DESCRIPTION: Cargo stock throughput insurance is a special product of the ocean marine market.  It was created to cover specific risks to an insurer’s stock under specific circumstances, as a gap-filler for an insured’s other policies.  However, once there is a claim, underwriters are under pressure to substantially expand the original intended scope of coverage, making it akin to an “all risks” policy.  This class will explain what cargo stock throughput insurance is, its advantages and disadvantages, the various coverage components offered, and insights into appropriately underwriting stock throughput accounts.
